Traveling again!

Guess what? I'm going to Korea again this summer! I'm really excited!

This time, Joyce and I are traveling together, and we're going to Japan for 1.5 days to close her bank account there and then going to Korea - Gangnam for about 2 weeks.

We're going to help out in a language cafe in Gangnam where we'll be doing language exchange with Koreans for four hours a day, five days a week, and then whatever we want for the rest of our time there. The cafe will provide a place for us to sleep and some simple meals.

I think I'm just happy that I'm going back to Korea again... hopefully this time speaking better Korean than last summer. And also doing something different from last time... mingling with actual Koreans this time. Haha. Just a whole new difference is really exciting. Plus, we're planning to go to Busan for a weekend! I've heard so much about Busan that I really want to see it for myself. Are the food really that much better? Are Busan namja really that much better? Is it really that awesome in Busan?

And! I'm also excited to be in Tokyo for a day. I haven't been to Tokyo since 3rd grade.... and I'm not quite sure what to expect. I think there is something about roaming by yourself in a foreign country that is exciting. Everything seems to be different.

And this time, Joyce is coming along! All the better! I wouldn't want to go again by myself... because I've already been to many places in Seoul that it's just not as fun to do sightseeing on places I've already been...

Oh yeah! I forgot to mention that the plane ticket we got was quite cheap. It's strange how the airline industry works and what they really want you to buy.....

So when I was researching for this trip, I was thinking about booking a round trip to Korea, then take Peach or similar airline to do a round trip to Japan. The round trip ticket alone for Korea is already $1,600 for direct flight and about $1,000 with layover in China or similar places. AND! If we take Peach, we would have to pay extra for our luggages. My goodness....

However! When we researched with multi-city travel, where we go from LAX->Narita->Seoul->LAX, the tickets were $1,080! What the....? AND! The first leg to Narita has a layover at Seoul for 1 hour. What?! Why can't they just sell us direct or round trip to our destination for similar prices?! I don't understand.

Oh and..... we were searching prices using Google Flights because it's so highly advertised as the best flight search engine. Not so! The prices that they found were never anywhere to be found on actual buying websites. In another word, it's useless. We basically gave up trying to search flights on Google Flights and just used Expedia.com, where we can ACTUALLY BUY right away. Just a small tip for the future.

Till next time!
